Weird Graphic Images
A weird glitch or bug has been happening while ive been playing guildwars. All of a sudden i will experience a freeze or lag and then a result of messed up images. This includes an invisible fellblade, glowing white armor, and blurred text. I have re-installed guild wars, Downloaded directx 9 and im looking for someone who has experienced this as well. Anyone who has information on this will be much appreciated. See attachments below.
Thank you
I dont know if i did this right but heres the info.

Had similar graphics glitches because of a faulty GFX card.
Replacing it was the only fix, tho i wouldn't go this far until you've tried everything else, and got a few more opinions

As usual we'd love to see some system specs and as usual check the temps.
First though I'm just gonna say you might try repairing the dat file if you haven't done so yet.
edit: mis read silly me thought that said reinstalled drivers not reinstalled guild wars.
in that case. ignore what I said about repairing the dat file

The HD 5450 was a nice ati card. GT tends to be a nvidia thing. however the 5000 series is so old I don't remember if there was ever a 5450 and I know it wouldn't have ddr5 vram. Which would lead me to believe its an ati card and you were mistaken about the GT. However Zotac only makes nvidia cards.
Basically something dosen't fit here. Sooo if you could just appease me by going through all this:
hit the little windows key + r and type in dxdaig...
let that run through and hit save all info
that will save all the information we should need to a txt file. Copy and paste the contents of that and edit into your first post.
This will give us pretty much all the system info we (or really someone else as im about to go to bed and odds are elder or someone will pick up on this before me) need.

You're entirely sure that your DAT file was erased completely, and then rebuilt using -image? It seems like this needs to be done when someone upgrades their system. Ether that, or there are just some really funky problems with newer ATi cards and GW these days. I think developers are slacking off when writing drivers and taking older games into consideration.
I for example have an HD 4870, and with the last two driver updates that I'm aware of, caused a problem in an older game of mine that makes absolutely no sense at all, but everything else works just fine.

downloads all the games data at once so the next time you log in you don't have to wait for zones and stuff to download.

need to know what graphics card you have for sure, as End said, dxdiag will give us that information. We also need to know what temperatures you are hitting while gaming. I reccomend HWMonitor as a simple to use and free download. Post the temperatures you reach after playing GW for 10-15 minutes.

If you can't figure out your card for sure, google "GPU-Z" and download that little program. That'll tell you, your card for sure.

All the graphics corruption I've ever had came down to .dat file corruption, thermal issues, (aka overheating) and incompatible software or hardware.
Check the temperatures, check for dust buildup, vent obstruction, or stopped fans. You've rebuilt the .dat file but you may also want to click on the drive properties tools, and check the disk for errors as well.

One thing you can try, as i know alot pf people forget to check when the have graphical issues, is your fan working on your graphics card. Just a thought. If it isn`t then just replace the fan with a new one. Also when when the fan isn`t working but the card is it can give completely incorrected temp readings.

fixed it for you. I've taken a look at some reviews of that card and it puts the idle temps im the mid 30's
If thats the temp while under load I wish to know which ice berg you live in...cause the ambient would have to be -10+C
If thats really what its reading then odds are the temp guage thingy is messed up severly.

I would advise the OP to uninstall the driver, use a driver cleaner (there are a lot of free ones on the net) download and install the latest driver then download the latest DirectX installer and update your DirectX.
I don't think DirectX is properly configured on your computer. You may want to consider using RivaTuner to track the temps on your video card while playing. You should play for about half an hour before checking your temps. It is important to remember to play GW in full screen mode, then go to Windowed mode to check your temps, do NOT mininize or task switch as it changes the focus from the game and will reduce the stress on the video card. Yeah it may take a few seconds for the temps to start dropping but in some instances those seconds count for cards that are only marginally over-heating.

Or use GPUZ and have it save the temps to log file and then you can check them later. My current favorite bit of software for graphics card monitoring.

GPU-Z works great but the files can get huge. I forgot it was running one time and ended up with a 102MB log file. LOL
